An evening with Brother Martin; A chance to sit around and experience 16th century issues,hear Luther's comments and explore what the Luther Movement means for being Christian today.
In 1522, on his way to Wittenberg, Luther stopped at the pub known as the "Men-(the Bear) and held discussions with students. The event was turned into a legend by the painting seen here. The story has it that Luther disguised himself so that the students wouldn't recognise him. Imagine their
surprise the next day in Wittenberg when they realised that their drinking buddy was the Revd Dr. Martin' Luther, their professor!

Luther was a frequent guest of the Baren in Jena and held many discussions there with reformation theologians and the locals.
Luther and friends arrive and begin talking at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8
Two 16th century religious will be at the Stammtisch (Table for regulars) talking about the context of church life, worship, and society In late 15th century Germany. Friday, Oct. 22
Acquaintences of Luther will be on hand to let the 'students' at the table ask questions (real questions from Luther's Table Talk) and hear the answers Brother Martin gave. Jolly topics and deep matters of the soul and redemption.
Friday, Oct. 29: Luther himself at the table in the form of The Revd Dr. Bob Kelly, Luther Professor at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (Kitchener, Ont.) speaks about the Luther movement how the avante garde ideas of then are yet to be realized. Do we dare listen to Luther!
