Dear Thom,
You came to us at a very difficult time. The worst in our history, I am sure. It wasn't easy for you, we know that. We were desperately unhappy and hurting deep in our souls. But with your kindness, patience and understanding, the healing process began, and for that I am grateful.
We are a mixed lot here at St. Ansgar's, but one of the things we have in common, is a sense of humour and you fit right in. We shared many laughs with you.
I admired your leadership at Bible Study. We have a good group, but we tend to get off track. You would let us - for a while - then you would gently lead us back to what we were supposed to study.
I enjoy your sermons. You have a wonderful mix of bible history - as it should be - but also of world events or situations from our daily lives, that we can identify with. On my way home, I would go over your words and say to myself - yes, that was a good sermon, I learned something today.
So dear Pastor, friend, I will miss you. Wherever life will take you - from the bottom of my heart - I wish you well.
I will say - not goodbye - but "på gensyn" - which means, see you again. God Bless you, Thom.
H.B.
